How CPR Helps
• Chest compression act like an external pump to keep the heart moving.
• Rescue breaths (optional for trained people) help put oxygen into the lungs.
• Together, they buy time and can save a person’s life.

When to Give CPR
Start CPR if a person:
• Is unresponsive, and
• Is not breathing or only gasping.

Basic Steps (Hands-only CPR for untrained people)
1. Check if the person responds.
2. Call for help or dial emergency number (like 108/112).
3. Push hard and fast in the center of the chest.
o Use both hands.
o Push 100–120 times per minute (similar to the beat of “Stayin’ Alive”).
o Let the chest rise fully between compressions.

Why CPR Matters
• It can double or triple the chances of survival in cardiac arrest.
• It keeps the brain alive until professional medical care arrives.
